Sizes and Structure

The folder size is medium. It is 20cm in length, 16cm in width and 5cm in depth. And it is the outer size of the printed paper box.

This is a typical folding paper box with an intelligent box structure. On the sides, it has thick walls for protection and cushioning. The top cover can flip open. It has a tongue which acts as a lock for the closure of the paper box.

The advantage of the walls can also provide extra stacking ability. Then they won’t be crushed during the stacking and storage.

Materials and Paperboard

Because it is a small cardboard box, we adopt a paper material, which is very special. It is the micro-flute corrugated board. That is N flute. It is only 1mm in thickness. It is stronger than the normal 24pt SBS paperboard, because it is thicker. This leads to good rigidity and durability. Moreover, the flute height is extremely low. Thus, it has the more excellent printing quality than the E flute corrugated box, because the surface is more smoother.

Color and Printing

The printed paper box has the crisp full color printing. Most of color is navy blue with a brilliant logo. The dazzling visual effect is achieved by the gold foil stamping and embossing. On the bottom of the box is the white logo.

Package Design Requirement

The client absolutely loves our packaging. He wanted to reach out to see if we could help with the packaging. The paper printed box is for a soon to launch product (Home testing kits) for their company, Doctoori Connect. His company sells medical testing kits that users can order to their homes. Moreover, they already have the paper box design in place and would like the packaging to be eco-friendly and sustainable.

Here are the components of the kit they will need our help with:

First, an outer cardboard gift box with custom doctoori branding and design

Second, a small cardboard insert inside the box with instructions on how to take the test and return the test back (DESIGN TO BE PROVIDED SOON)

Third, two cardboard/paper boxes or flaps inside the box – one for taking the test and the other one for sending the sample back to us.

Corrugated Mailing Box

We use the custom packaging as a corrugated mailer box for the mailing and postage purpose. The paper printed box needs to be rigid and durable. Therefore, we choose the paper materials carefully to keep the carton strong.

Because the box has a small size, we decide to use the F flute corrugated board. It is a micro flute corrugated board, and is quite thin. It is only 1-1.2mm in thickness.

Printing inside and Outside

In light of the color, we apply the litho printing method to the package inside and outside. It has a full color printing. On the outside, the colors are light blue and orange. And it has the matte laminating outside. While on the inside, the colors are light blue and orange too. Generally, the printing design is quite simple, which make the box looks clean and impressive.

Retail Packaging and Electronics Packaging

On the one hand, the product inside the custom paper box are some home testing kits. It is a typical electronics packaging paper box. The package needs to keep the items safe inside. Therefore, we create a cardboard insert cleverly to hold the items inside well.

On the other hand, the package is for retail purpose. It requires us to meet the general need of a retail packaging box. For this reason, the marketing purpose is very important, which explains why we use the printing inside and outside.

A sturdy shipping and mailing corrugated box is going to be introduced in this post. It is a corrugated printed box made of the F flute corrugated board, which is also a corrugated box printed inside and outside. The paper printed box features the soft touch laminating outside, which adds a very impressive feel and look to the package.

Corrugated Box Strength

The strength, durability and sturdiness comes from the special and unique structure of the corrugated mailer. The paper box can be assembled automatically without the help of the glue water or tape. On the sides, the 2 strong shoulders provide significant support so that the boxes can be stacked high. At the end, the box has a self tuck closure with 2 rear flaps inserting into the sides.

Color Printing And Finish

Another good thing about this shipping and mailing carton box is its printing and finish. The corrugated printed box has the full color lith printing. And the light and stereo on the box has the UV glossy finish to create a striking eye appealing effect. Meantime, a soft touch laminating finish is applied to add velvet touch feel onto the surface of the paper printed box.

Microflute Corrugated Board

The last advantage of this printed paper box is its material, which is the F flute corrugated board. The F flute corrugated board is only 1.2mm in thickness, but double the thickness of the normal ivory paperboard or SBS paperboard. The extra thickness adds extra strength to the paper box without affecting the great printing property of the printed sheet. Besides, the F flute, we can also supply the E flute, B flute, EE flute and a lot of other corrugated board materials.

0201 Regular Slotted Carton (RSC)

All flaps of the corrugated printed box have the same length, and the two outer flaps (normally the lengthwise flaps) are one half the box’s width, so that they meet at the center of the box when folded. If the product requires a flat, even bottom surface, or the protection of two full layers, a fill-in pad can be placed between the two inner flaps. This is a highly efficient design for many applications in various industry. There is very little manufacturing waste of the paper material. This corrugated printed box can be used for most products and is the most common corrugated box style.

There are a number of derivative box styles of the RSC that are widely use in the packaging industry.

0200 Half Slotted Carton (HSC) is a RSC style corrugated box without the top flaps.

0202 Overlap Slotted Carton (OSC) is a RSC style paper box with the outer flaps partially overlapping on the top or at the bottom.

0203 Full Overlap Slotted Carton (FOL). A RSC carton with the both sets of outer flaps overlapping to the full width of the custom corrugated box.

0204 Center Special Slotted Carton (CSSC). A RSC shipping box with inner and outer flaps cut at different dimensions so that both pairs of flaps meet in the center of the corrugated printed box.

0205 Center Special Overlap Slotted Carton (CSO) is a corrugated box with inner flaps meeting and outer flaps partially overlapping.

0206 Center Special Full Overlap Carton (SFF) is a strong corrugated shipping carton with inner flaps meeting and the outer flaps verlapping to the full width of the corrugated shipping box.

In this article, we will talk about a special full overlap carton. This is a heavy duty oriented corrugated printed box, which carries the bolts and nuts inside. It is made of the B flute corrugated paperboard, which has the white color outside. The texts are black color printed.

The mailer box is die cut out of a whole piece of E flute, or B flute corrugated board, with connected lid, front panel and bottom tray. The front panel has the roll end on the sides to tuck into the bottom tray. With such structure, the corrugated printed box provides extremely sturdy support on the sides and front panel. The corrugated mailer could handle heavy duty packaging and shipment directly,

In this post, we will introduce a special corrugated mailer box. The mailer box has the tuck lock on the front panel for tight closure.  With this tuck closure, the tape can be avoided to seal the box well. Besides, it has a half finger cutout to open the box easily.

The other appealing feature of the corrugated printed box is its white kraft color inside, which is a perfect alternative to the kraft color inside. The white kraft color comes from the white kraft paper, which is gluded on the back of the fluting paper box.

On the outside, the corrugated printed box has the full color printing for the UV box.  And there is a blue color printing for the background color. The top and the bottom has the white color. The print ink outside is protected by the matte laminating finish. Also, the UV box can be spot UV varnished to have an eye appealing visual effect.

The E flute corrugated board, F flute corrugated board are simply diecut to be flat packed and shipped to the production line. But the design process of the custom corrugated insert takes a long time. We need create many graphic designs for the structure as well samples for the small revision. All we need do is to get a perfect insert, which can hold and protect the items inside very well.

In this article, we will introduce a great corrugated paperboard insert for a toy bricks packaging box. It is used as a holder inside a corrugated mailer.

As shown in the picture above, the corrugated box tray has very strong shoulders on the sides, which can resist very strong pressure outside. The custom paper box is quite difficult to crush. Thus, it would have a perfect protection for the toy bricks inside. And the product inside are not possible to be damaged or broken at all.

One of the great benefits of such a tray insert inside is that we can have a thin paperboard for the outer paper box. When the paperboard used for the paper printed box is thin, the printing quality can be better, very impressive and beautiful.  Another great benefit is that the total cost won’t increase a lot.

The most impressive thing about the toy bricks box is its brilliant glossy white effect outside. A kind of very high quality paperboard is used during the production to render the best whiteness and printing effect. Meanwhile, the UV glossy varnish is applied on the printing surface to protect and enhance the visual effect of the package. It is made of the E flute corrugated board.

Beside the normal CMYK full color litho printing, the custom paper box also has the gold inks printing for the text TIANANMEN and the gold area on the left.  The gold inks printing is a special printing method using metalic inks to produce the gold shinning effect. It is very eye appealing and impressive.

Another great feature of the E flute corrugated box is that it has the white color inside. This makes the toy bricks paper box look quite clean.

Like most retail paper boxes, the custom paper box can also acts as a corrugated mailer box for the delivery to the customers. The paper printed box is quite strong and rigid.

For the custom corrugated box which is sealed by the tape or glue, the perforation finish is sometimes used. Then the customer can easily open the paper printed box by tearing the paperboard.

Today we will talk about an important usage of the perforation on the corrugated printed boxes.  Then the custom paper box can be used both as a shipping carton and a corrugated display box. Usually the top part of the E flute corrugated is well designed to have a creative perforation, then part of the top can be easily removed to display the item inside.

The part on the top of the custom corrugated printed box can be easily teared apart. Then it acts as a header for the display box by clipping into the hole on the back of the paper printed box.

On the back of custom paper box, a half circle is die cut to create a clip structure, then the header can be clipped there.

This is a E flute corrugated box, which is made of the 2mm thick corrugated board.  The box has the tuck closure on the top and the snap locked closure at the bottom.

The custom corrugated box first works as a shipping box to pack the deck pedestal inside in the factory. Then it works as a display paper box in the retail store .

There are 3 challenges for us to create the structure design for this corrugated printed box. Firstly, the thickness, that is, the width of the paper box is only 25mm in thickness. It means that we can not use the traditional method to glue the side panel of the package. The paper box would be difficult to bend and fold. Also, there might be cracks on the edge of the corrugated box. And it turns out that the F flute is the best solution with the perfect combination of strength and flexibility. Secondly, the box will carry a very heavy steel spike inside. The weight is around 3.5kg. It means that we need choose a very good F flute corrugated board to produce the corrugated box. Thirdly, there is a hanging hook, hanging tab on the top of the box. The hook need to be well designed, then the hook won’t break during the delivery process.

In order to solve the first problem, we use a self lock structure to replace the traditional glue method to close the box on the side. In case that the spike may fall out of the box, we use a special tuck end box structure at the end to seal the bottom very tightly. For the paper material, we use the very strong corrugated board, then it can have the best printing effect and strength.

The box has the blue tone outside. It is CMYK full color printed box with the glossy laminating to protect it from the slight water or humidity influency.

For the items that are fragile, easily broken and damaged, the corrugated board can work as a great cushion again the collsion and impact during the transportation.

Another great benefits of the corrugated insert is its cost-effectiveness. It is very cheap. And it is very easy to produce these inserts.  A custom cutting die is all we need. You can cut any shape that you like on the insert to hold your product.

What’s more, the corrugated paperboard is highly customizable according to the packaging requirement, no matter it is a heavy duty carton box or a light weight paper box. And the size of the corrugated box can be extremely big or very small.

The lift off lid corrugated paper box features a very creative box structure, which is completely a die cut paper box and a complete folding paper box. That is, the paper box can be assembled and set up within minute without the help of the tape or glue water. Thus, the corrugated box will be flat shipped to the workshop or warehouse of our client. This feature can save hundreds of dollars sea freight fees.

Another nice feature of the F flute corrugated paper box is the white color inside and outside. It is quite impressive due to the white, clean and pure look outside when you don’t want the kraft color effect inside or outside,

What’s more, the assembling process for the lift off lid paper box is quite simple. Our designer spent days to create this smart box structure, then the box can be set up without any glue water or tape.  Below is the assembling process, which is quite simple.

The purpose of the lift off lid corrugated box is to protect the plastic bottles inside. The clients ask us to make a strong paper box for the safe packing and shipping. Also, there is a black color thermoformed plastic tray inside the corrugated tray. The box has a structure of a cover and a base.

Our previous supplier of packaging in China has had ongoing quality issues and we are now looking for a new company to deal with. We are also releasing a brand new product range and with this we want to upgrade the existing packaging that we use. I have attached one of the files for you to review of the new design. I must advise that I am not an expert at all on packaging or the available materials so we are very much looking for a business that can support us with good technical knowledge and advice. The packaging at present is a white corrugated carton, with full colour glossy printing. We would like to move to a corrugated board that has a much better printed finish that is satin on the outside, and black on the inside (when the customer opens the box). There are many inserts as well inside the box that would also be black corrugated card.

At present we use a glossy white corrugated carton for printing, but I am looking for more of a high quality satin finish if possible. I am not an expert (at all!) on packaging so I am hoping you can do some research for us and present some higher quality options. I want to see some different products but ultimately we want a quality finish on the packaging so our customers are impressed when they see the product on the shelf in shops. I hope you can understand my meaning. I can send you samples of our current packaging if you like…? However we want to move away from the current packaging to a better quality board.

The black color corrugated board inserts usually consists of 2 types according to the thickness. One is the black color E flute insert, which is around 1.8mm in thickness and is mostly used in in the cosmetic paper boxes. The thicker paperboard can provide very good protection to keep the bottles inside safe. The other is the black color F flute insert, which is around 1mm in thickness. Besides the black color inserts, the white color corrugated inserts are widely used too.

There are 2 main concerns involved when our clients choose a black color corrugated board insert. First of all, safety of the products is the utmost concern, because bottles and plastic tubes are usually used to pack the perfumes and most cosmetic products, which is easy to break during the delivery and rough handling processes. Thus, the package needs to handled with the utmost care. Thanks to the great cushion property of the black color E flute corrugated board insert, it can greatly enhance the safety of the products inside the printed paper box during the transportation. Furthermore, the black color corrugated board inserts provide the cosmetic paper box very good rigidity inside to keep the package in good shape without being easily crushed. Therefore, the black color E flute inserts can also give the custom paper box a very good look outside to appeal the potential customers, which is the other concern of our clients.

Recently, we made a custom black paper box for a client in New Zealand. The black color corrugated board inserts are required inside the black paper box to protect the candles inside.

The candles have the heavy weight. There must be a durable package to carry the candles. The black color E flute inserts can meet this requirement perfectly. Meantime, the candles are exquisite, looking very beautiful and delicate. Thus, an attractive and desirable package is necessary. In order to give the candle paper box a luxury look, the spot UV and silver foil finish are employed, which give the custom paper box a very gorgeous look outside.

White Color E Flute Corrugated Board Insert

Another vantage point of the corrugated insert is the low sampling cost.

Roll End Tuck Top Box With Dust Flaps

The E flute corrugated box in the picture below is a roll end tuck top box with the dust flaps, which is a very common style for the postage purpose, used as mailer boxes.

As you can see, the corrugated box has a die-cut paperboard insert inside. The cardboard has several different cutouts, which are used to hold the various parts of the products.

The E flute box is CMYK full color printed with the glossy varnish outside. It is quite pretty, isn’t it?  And the paperboard insert has the same printing too.
